Messing about with Photoshop

I've been feeling a bit annoyed with my pics, it getting more difficult to take anyone outside with the weather either grey/wet or really windy, its also getting pretty cold
My indoor pics are not ideal I either have a lamp with a daylight bulb or candles to use for lighting
So I've been attempting to learn photoshop stuff to improve my crappy pics, so far I've learned to do the fancy border thingy that you can still see the pic through, I've been messing with levels and colours and stuff and today I've discovered some actions on DA for downloading and learnt how to use them
So here are some of my attempts

didnt really do much to this one, but I think Brenna looks so pretty with her Pirate Dalamar in it

Brenna looks so content in the last pic with Dalamar. I've been telling myself that I would like to learn more about photoshop recently too................I have just been too lazy to actual do it yet, LOL! I think these pics look great.

Photoshop has so many different things, its easy to get completely confused trying to learn how to use it :s

I really like the second one especially, both with the posing (pirate Brenna protecting her horde) and the way the spill of light seems to make the coins *ping*. The photoshop sepia etc tones give them a real interest too.
